Crawler tractor advantage(1)
A crawler tractor is a type of machine that operates on a set of tracks instead of tires. The tracks allow the tractor to exert less weight on the ground than a comparable-sized wheeled tractor. This allows the crawler tractor to be used in conditions where a wheeled vehicle cannot be used.
High traction efficiency. Because of its larger ground area and high adhesion, crawler tractors have greater traction at the same horsepower. Compared with the driver, the traction force of a belt tractor is 1.4 to 1.8 times that of a wheeled tractor. In terms of traction efficiency, the maximum traction efficiency of a wheeled tractor is theoretically 55% to 65%, and that of a crawler tractor can reach 70% to 80%. That is to say, the effective power of the tractor wheel drag engine with the same horsepower will lose 15% more than that of the crawler drag engine. The test shows that on hard ground and cultivated land, the traction performance of crawler tractors and four-wheel tractors is compared under similar conditions, and the traction efficiency of crawler tractors is about 10% to 20% higher.
Little damage to soil structure. The belt-covering tractor has a large grounding area, less compaction and damage to the soil, is not easy to slip, and is easier to exert good traction performance. Wheeled tractor tires have poor adhesion and high slip rate. When the wheeled tractor is working, the rear wheels always walk in the groove, and the shearing action of the tires on the soil destroys the soil structure of the plow layer. After several years of cultivation, a hard bottom layer will be formed under the plow layer of the soil, which is not conducive to the water storage and moisture conservation of the soil and the growth of crops. Even after deep turning, there will still be small compacted lumps, and the microstructure of the soil will be destroyed. The degree of compaction of the soil by crawler tractors is smaller than that of wheeled tractors, and the effect of deep plowing is particularly prominent, which makes crawler tractors have obvious advantages in low and wet land operations. The deep groove rolled by the rear wheels of the wheeled tractor during sowing operation caused the inconsistency of the seed sowing depth and covering soil, which had an extremely adverse effect on the sowing quality, and also brought difficulties to the subsequent watering operation.
