Application fields and use measures of small excavators
A mini excavator is a multi-purpose equipment used across infrastructure projects, urban development work and general construction activities that involve digging work, backfilling, utility works and material movement. Being light weight and smaller in size it is highly preferred in confined spaces. The equipment is used to dig out trenches and ditches and can move materials to and from the job site.Read our guide and learn how to apply a mini excavator as well as how to safely use a mini excavator. Application fields of small excavators:
1. Municipal engineering field: In municipal construction, it is essential to dig ditches and landfill pipelines. Mini excavators are popular among users for their compact size and flexible maneuverability.
2. Rural house road construction: When building houses in rural areas, it is necessary to manually dig the trenches and drainage channels for the upper and lower water pipes. Now these tasks can be solved by small excavators, which not only reduces the labor intensity of workers, but also greatly improves the construction speed.
3. Horticulture: The environment of agricultural horticulture is relatively small. There are often saplings of crops and crops around. In agricultural garden construction, it is impossible to use large machinery for digging and trenching. Makes small digs just right.
4. Dangerous work at high altitude: We often see some small excavators working on cliffs in cliff construction or post-disaster reconstruction work.
Small excavator use measures:
1. The small excavator is transferred to the construction site and transported by a flatbed trailer.
2. If the ground is soft when the small excavator walks and works, it should be padded with sleepers or backing boards. In the swamp area, the roadbed should be treated first or the track shoes should be replaced.
3. When excavating with a small excavator, in addition to loosening the soil, the working surface should not exceed the maximum excavation height and depth specified by the performance of the machine. During operation, the track of the small excavator should be kept at least 1~1.5m away from the edge of the working face.
4. Before starting, check the working equipment, walking mechanism, various protective equipment, hydraulic transmission parts and electrical equipment, etc., and confirm that they are completely intact before starting.
5. There should be no pedestrians and obstacles in the operation area. Before excavation, it should beep to indicate, and try to dig several times. After confirming that it is normal, the operation can be started.
6. When encountering large solid stones or obstacles, they must be removed before excavation. Do not use a bucket to break rocks, frozen soil or gnaw hard with single-sided bucket teeth.
7. Protective measures should be taken when excavating cliffs. No loose large rocks should be left on the working face. If there is a risk of landslide, it should be dealt with immediately or the small excavator should be evacuated to the area.
8. When working, wait for the machine to stop before digging. The bucket should not be raised or lowered too violently, and it must not collide with the frame or track when it is lowered.
9. When loading the car, the bucket should be lowered as much as possible, and the car part should not be bumped. It is not allowed to load the car before the car has stopped or the bucket has to jump over the cab and the driver has not left.
